AMOR — DAY 27: Lifeblood Garnet
AMOR — DAY 27: Lifeblood Garnet
Five years ago, my mom was diagnosed with myelofibrosis, a rare blood cancer. We were told that in order to survive, she would need a stem cell transplant.
In 2023, our family partnered with DKMS to host a stem cell donor drive, and over 10,000 of you signed up for the registry after seeing our video or coming to one of our in-person drives. I never properly updated everyone afterward because we were waiting and hoping.
Last year, amongst the millions of people in the global registry, we found a perfect 10/10 donor match for my mom. For reasons unknown to us, the donor became unavailable and it ultimately fell through. For a brief moment, we thought the wait might finally be over. This process has often felt like an endless cycle of hope and heartbreak.
Today’s ring is dedicated to her, and to anyone else trying to find their perfect match. A lot of life can happen in the waiting, but it can also be a heavy and uncertain limbo to exist inside of. Sending you so much love and warmth.
A deep red garnet cabochon set east-west in solid 14k gold, with a scalloped bezel setting.
I’ll be donating the profits from this ring to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for blood cancer research and support.
If you’re healthy and eligible, please consider joining the stem cell registry (link in bio). It only takes a few minutes and a cheek swab, and you could genuinely save someone’s life. And if you already signed up during our last drive: THANK YOU—my family and I can’t show our appreciation enough. Please stay reachable in case you are ever identified as a potential match.
