I bought this rutilated quartz cabochon more than ten years ago and have been carrying it around ever since, waiting for the right time to use it. Every so often I’d come across it while reorganizing stones and think, “not yet…”.
A decade later, and here we are.
Rutilated quartz is a variety of quartz that contains naturally occurring needle-like crystals of rutile trapped inside. These golden inclusions formed long before the quartz crystal itself finished growing, creating little suspended threads of light that make every stone completely unique.
